English Story
The Shinsengumi attacked a meeting at Ikedaya in 1864. Earlier political change, an arrest, diary reports, reward documents and later commemoration place the night within Kyoto while separating a reported plan from a later actual fire.

1864年、池田屋の会合を新選組が襲った。剣客の活躍として知られる一夜を、前年の政変、古高俊太郎の捕縛、若杉家日記、褒賞の文書、亡くなった側の記憶からたどる。放火計画の紹介と、その後に起きた京都の火災を分けて読む。

English Story
In 1863, Serizawa Kamo was killed at the Yagi residence in Mibu, Kyoto. Follow Kondo Isami’s account of two leaders, reports issued in both men’s names from Osaka and a later letter describing his official work. Their sequence traces the Shinsengumi’s changing leadership while preserving the uncertainties around Serizawa’s death.
