In June 1582, Hashiba Hideyoshi learned of the Honnoji Incident while besieging Bitchu Takamatsu Castle. This article follows the peace with the Mori side, the disputed departure dates, the relay through Himeji, and the letters that connected his eastward march to the Battle of Yamazaki.
English Story
From the attack at Honnoji on June 2, 1582, to the Battle of Yamazaki on June 13, this story follows Akechi Mitsuhide as he tried to secure Kyoto and Azuchi, and Hashiba Hideyoshi as he returned from western Japan while assembling allies. Roads, bridges, letters, loyalties, and the narrow terrain between mountain and water reveal how a military victory failed to become durable political control.

安土桃山時代天正10年（1582年）6月、備中高松城を攻めていた羽柴秀吉は、本能寺の変の報せを受けた。毛利方との講和、高松からの離脱、姫路を中継点とする東進、進行先の武将への書状を分けてたどり、中国大返しを一度の伝説的な疾走ではなく、戦場を閉じて次の戦場へ軍勢を組み替えた行動として検証する。
長尺作品
戦国時代天正10年（1582年）6月2日の本能寺の変から、6月13日の山崎の戦いまでを追う。京都と安土で地盤を固める明智光秀、中国路から戻りながら味方を結ぶ羽柴秀吉、山と水辺に挟まれた戦場を通して、勝利が支配へ変わらなかった11日後の結末を描く。
