1156年の保元の乱では、平清盛と源義朝が後白河天皇の側にいた。崇徳上皇と後白河天皇、藤原忠通と頼長、源為義と義朝、平忠正と清盛の関係を追い、短い戦闘と重い戦後処分を読む。現地の碑や保元物語の刊本を同時代の証拠と混同せず、1159年の平治の乱との違いまで見渡す。
English Story
Taira no Kiyomori became daijō-daijin in 1167 and resigned after about three months. His subsequent career connects Itsukushima patronage, harbour works, and life in Kyoto and Fukuhara. Separate the works of 1173 from the plan of 1180, the brief capital transfer from lasting settlement, and his death from the family’s later defeat.
