The Death of Serizawa Kamo | Letters Tracing the Shinsengumi’s Changing Leadership in Mibu
In 1863, Serizawa Kamo was killed at the Yagi residence in Mibu, Kyoto. Follow Kondo Isami’s account of two leaders, reports issued in both men’s names from Osaka and a later letter describing his official work. Their sequence traces the Shinsengumi’s changing leadership while preserving the uncertainties around Serizawa’s death.
